St. Mary’s Regional Hospital – EP Cath Lab

St. Mary’s Regional Hospital, Grand Junction | EP Cath Lab

The Project

The Heart and Vascular Center at St. Mary’s Regional Hospital had a growing demand for an additional EP lab. However, no shell space was available, and the team had to transform three short-stay beds and ancillary spaces into a state-of-the-art combination cath/EP lab, with double the equipment load of a typical facility.

Project Challenges

No designated space: The project called for repurposing patient beds and support space into a specialized clinical environment.

Double equipment load: Combination cath and EP functionality demanded creative problem-solving within a fixed footprint.

Operational consistency: Lab techs needed the new space to replicate existing layouts for seamless workflow across all facilities.

Complete systems rebuild: Demolition and reconstruction of electrical, HVAC, and ceiling infrastructure while maintaining adjacent hospital operations

The Solution

Maximized every square foot of the limited footprint while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Coordinated structural engineering from demolition to steel reinforcement to complete systems rebuild.

Replicated existing lab layouts within space constraints to ensure zero workflow disruption for technicians.

Delivered on an accelerated timeline: 6 months design, 9 months construction.
